LOCHINVER Sutherland. The fishing village of Lochinver stands on the coast of Assynt at the north east angle of the sea loch of lnver. It is a good holiday centre with a road westminster to Laird and attractive, twisty roads along the coast to north and south.
There is good fishing in the liver and in many hill lochs, as well as very good sea fishing. Climbing is available on the remarkable Sutherland hills and bird watchers have the chance to see an unusual variety of birds, including red throated divers Just south of the village is the schoolhouse beside a lochan with the fantastic Suilven rising like a sugar loaf behind.
Lochinver, is a small but busy fishing village on the west coast of Sutherland lying under the shadow of Suilven (2399 ft), an intriguing sugarloaf mountain.

The magnificent coastal scenery in the area makes Lochinver a popular base for tourists, and sea and freshwater anglers who have a choice of some 300 lochs within easy reach.
On the shores of Loch Assynt lie the ruins of Ardvreck Castle was built in 1590, the seat of the Macleod’s of Assynt.
