Lochboisdale Visitor Information Guide
Lochboisdale on a deeply indented loch of the same name on the south east of south Uist is a small but busy port with car-ferry connections to the mainland and Barra. By virtue of having a hotel especially popular with anglers and shops and is the ‘capital’ of south Uist, although some would claim this title for Daliburgh some3 miles inland.
This district is much associated with Prince Charles Edward Stuart who spent at least one night in June 1746 on Calvey Island at the mouth of Lochboisdale, before setting sail for Skye with Flora Macdonald.
