kinlochmoidart Visitor Information Guide
kinlochmoidart lies at the head of Loch Moidatrt on the road (formerly a bridle path that gives motorists a magnifiscent circular tour of ARD-GOUR. Sunart and Moidart. linking up with the main road (A839) at Lochailort.
Kinlochmoidart House is built near the site of a previous property which was burned after 1745, in which Prince Charles Edward Stuart stayed on his way to raise the standard at Glenfinnan in August 1745.
A line of seven beech trees near the house commemorates the Seven men of Moidart who landed with the Prince. One tree has blown down in winter storm, but has been replaced. The steep hills above Kinlochmoidart House are crowded with lochs containing some excellent brown trout. but permission to fish them must be obtained from the House.
