Kinlochleven Visitor Information Guide
Kinlochleven Situated at the east end of Loch Leven, Kinlochleven is surrounded by mountains. At the beginning of this century.
Kinlochleven as a village did not exist, but in 1908 an aluminum works started building plant here and this, along with the hydro-electric scheme on the river Black-water behind the town provided work for more than 700 men.
The rows of pipes ascending to the reservoir and the industrial activity in the village contrast strangely with the serene loch and the quiet splendor of the west Highland scenery, making Kinlochleven a unique spot. A pleasant walk may be taken following the old military path across the hills, over the Devil's Staircase to Kings house in the Pass of Glen Coe.
