Broadford is the second-largest settlement on the sky it is in a beautiful tranquil area, there is a small run way put in by the British army and opened in 1972 and operated a scheduled service to Glasgow, sadly the airport was closed in 1988, today the airport is used by the NHS to transfer patients to Inverness and Glasgow Hospitals in the highlands.

The Sky bridge and the ferry bring tourist to the Island here you will find woodland and pasture, inspiring artist from painters jewellers weavers and photographers throughout the centuries to stay and immortalize this part of the highlands for the walkers there are the Red Hills an extremely steep-sided, set of dome-shaped granite mountains which contrast sharply with the jagged Black Cuillin further north. Their scree-girt slopes give strenuous ascents but with the reward of superb views. Adjacent are Bla Bheinn and Garbh-bheinn, outliers of the Cuillin themselves.
Rising splendidly from the shores of Loch Slapin, Bla Bheinn is regarded by many as Britain's most beautiful peak. There are some fascinating coastal walks here and all round the Elgol peninsula. For wildlife spotting this is one of the best set up by the Forestry Commission to spotting Otters, Whales and Dolphins nearKylerhea and Lochalash.
