Lochinver, is a small but busy fishing village on the west coast of Sutherland lying under the shadow of Suilven (2399 ft), an intriguing sugarloaf mountain.

The magnificent coastal scenery in the area makes Lochinver a popular base for tourists, and sea and freshwater anglers who have a choice of some 300 lochs within easy reach.

On the shores of Loch Assynt lie the ruins of Ardvreck Castle was built in 1590, the seat of the Macleod’s of Assynt.
