Kincraig, a small village on the main Inverness to Perth road, with Loch Insh as a scenic feature. Insh Church, on a moraine knoll above the loch, is built on a site said to have been sacred to the druids, and then used continuously for Christian worship from the 6th century.
An ancient Celtic bell is worth seeing, as is the hollow stone said to have been used as a font by St Adarnnan , the biographer of St Columba. The low-lying and often flooded Insh marshes arc a reserve for waterfowl.
Observation hides are operated by the RSPB. At Kincraig the Highland Wildlife Park specializes in animals that were once common in Scotland. A few of the now all but extinct breed of Przevalski, or Asiatic, wild horses are also on proud display.
